Merger perspective
I gained a little perspective on our DL merger this weekend after talking to America West/US Airways crew.
I asked them how their merger was going and they went on a 5 minute rant about how both groups hated each. They said management has no plan to merge the groups and they have no idea when they will be operating as one airline. Just a moment that helped me appreciate where our merger is right now. I hope we stay on track.:) |

I hope we stay on track.:) I've found, that when talking with my northern bretheren at hotel watering holes, while initially both sides are guarded, after actually dispelling rumors and meeting "The Others," we really seem to be a very close already. I don't think that we have much to worry about other than some rouge elements. |
I tend to agree. I think both companies looked for and hired the same personality types, at least that is my experience from USAF buds that went to Delta and guys around here.
Your right, a little guarded at first, but we all seem to laugh at the same things and even during the SLI debates on here everyone got along. I'm optimistic going forward. For the Delta FO that bought coffee in PDX yesterday moring, thanks again. Ferd |
I agree with all the above. I think so far things have been executed clean & swift. While there is a deep sense of pride in each pilot group, I think we realize that this combo will form an incredible 1-2 punch. I feel we are positioned for some serious growth, & excellent global presence. Let's kick some butt. :)

Today is the first day for the new uniform for me... Looking forward, we're gonna be ok! :)

I was in the US Airways system on the express side during their initial merger process. I tell all the crews I fly with that we are already light years ahead of them in terms of integration. We have a new joint contract and an agreed on seniority list. We essentially are doing everything opposite of them in a good way. Things are pretty miserable over there from what I've heard. I am very optimistic about the new Delta going forward and am proud to wear the uniform.
