Delta and Jetblue would make more sense. Even AA and Jetblue would make more.

Alaska and JetBlue would make the most sense.

Yet JFK dwarfs EWR in terms of international departures and runs a better operation than EWR. You also don’t seem to grasp that much of the wealth in the NYC area and high value travelers Are concentrated on LI.

You should tell this to Scott Kirby, he seems to believe JFK is one of the most important pieces to the puzzle. (see many public statements around the time he left AA for UAL)

DAL and AA are in all three NYC airports, UAL is the only outlier, JS really effed that up, now there is really only one option to get back into JFK.

It's not a big deal. The bigger deal is that United has no major Hub east of Houston, south east of Cleveland or south of DC.

DAL squeezes out AS in SEA, and someone, probably UAL buys them.

I think that there’s a lot of tire kicking going on between possible dance partners given the permissive regulatory environment, MAX fiasco and likely looming economic downturn. Once someone makes a move there will likely be several others in quick succession. A further delay in the return of the Max would give cover for someone like SWA to pick off competition and secure a second type whether that be HA or NKS. B6 and AAG seem made for each other. That leaves Allegiant and F9 as wild cards with United and AA being least likely to make a move. IMOHO.
