Default Medical insurance at Mesa

Hi everyone!

So medical insurance is way too expensive at Mesa. I’m just wondering what insurance do you use if it’s not the company’s for yourselves and family?

I’m trying to decide what to do since I’m still in training. Thank you!

Obamacare... If you need decent health insurance, I would walk out and not return.

Didn't you see what you were getting into before agreeing to a class date?

Someone who takes a low-paying "fun" job with a non-working spouse and kids probably isn't the best decision maker.

I agree with others here. You picked the wrong regional if you must care for yourself and your family.

Most who come here are either just insuring themselves, or they have insurance through their spouse's employer (like I do).

Other regionals have better insurance coverage.

Thank you for all your replies.

Probably the worst decision I’ve ever made was to come to this place to ask for something like that. With all due respect to all the haters or pessimistic people, I’m not asking for career advice or judgement wether I made the right decision or not.

I have my reasons to be here that outweigh the ones why I shouldn’t and I just wanted to do out of the +1,200 pilots in this airline what are they using for medical insurance that’s it. If it’s not a constructive comment or constructive feedback, save it.

Thank you

Obamacare may be more expensive again this year. Hearing the current admin will withhold subsidies so be aware of that if that was your plan. We have two value plans that are cheap but I don’t think they cover much of anything.

This is APC dude. You're not talking to 1200 pilots, you're talking to a core group of pessimists and haters. Of course you're going to get ripped for posting a question like that here. What did you think would happen? That's like asking, "How likely am I to get the E-Jet?" or "How many hours can I credit if I pick up open time?"

It's been said that about 30% of the pilot group uses the insurance.

p.s. If you're like most of the new hires, we already know your reasons for being here: It's because there's no chance in heil that you'd get picked up anywhere else.

Yeah, I realize that now. So far the best answers have been “Obamacare” and “working wife” and that works for me. I learned my lesson when coming with questions like that, sad but true.
