That really is not how it works. You need to fit the HR mold, if you're outside their parameters, you'll never get that call. No matter how much TPIC or hours you've got.

I am not affraid to say it, the majors are discriminating against age. Mesa has a very senior core of pilots who are excellent sticks, but will be bypassed by 20 somethings.
Don't take my word for it, take a head count of everyone you know thats been an off the street hire at a major. Majority of them below the age of 38, and quite a few more in their 20's right? Take notice of these things, it's right in front of your face.
When a recruiter says to you, "What else do you bring to the pilot group besides just being a pilot?", and you have 10 type ratings and a wealth of experience, you should already know what's going on.
Good news is that there are other companies out there that actually care more about your experience and pilot skills, than on how much fake virtue signaling you pretend to care about.

The majors think they are still the only game in town. Unfortunately for them there are many other companies that pay a whole lot more or have better schedule than they do. if you are young enough, your vision should be flying over sea's for get Delta, UA, AA they pay crap compared to some of the international carriers. Cargo operators also pay well and, have better schedules than the airlines. 16 days on and 12 days off, not bad at all. at the majors, you would have to have 10, 15 year seniority to get a schedule where you have lots of time off without giving your trips away.
So you guys have lots of options. Don't get drawn in thinking that the majors are the only game in town.

16 on 12 off sounds like hell. Overseas may get paid a lot... but you are essentially a slave to the company, plus, I wouldn't particularly want to live in Guangdong.
August 2019 hire at a legacy. Holding a line with 17 days and weekends off.
But hey. If you think that's the bee's knees, have at it!

It's a game. Whether it's fake virtue signalling or unfair practices... if you know the game they're playing, and you want to win, you have to play that game. You totally have the choice to say "this game is unfair" and walk away... but then you can't really come back and say "hey you guys, why won't you play with me".
Look at the guys getting hired. Yes they're usually young (I mean, if you think the average age of OTS hires of 37 is young). But really look at what they do. For better or worse, that is the type of person that will get hired. If you want to get hired, you have to try to be that type of person. If you don't care, then don't strive to be like that.

Hypothetical here. You're a 5500 TT, 2000 TPIC regional pilot, 40ish, have some volunteer time on your resume, clean record with no criminal or driving problems, and can't get an interview. They won't tell you why you are being excluded from their hiring pool and you're left to the guesses of the paid application services as to why you're not viable. Basically, there's no feedback from the majors to let you know what you need to do to be considered. It would be very nice if they took the time in your "TBNT" email to tell you, "Unfortunately, you don't have X to be competitive at this point".
Basically, tell me what I'm lacking, don't just say TBNT. Tell me what I need to do to become competitive, please.
Hell, SkyWest did that for me. The recruiter called me up after a couple of email exchanges and told me, "Hey, my recruiters who are pilots told me to tell you to possibly get a couple months of part 135 time to get current again and we'd be happy to give you an interview afterwards." I appreciate that. They told me what they needed me to do to get an interview.
Now Republic and Endeavor, it was a simple email that basically said "TBNT".
