Yeah, but Mesa’s management should have set a new date if anyone is to believe anything other than delayed indefinitely.

The management team needs to sort through what their goals are with basing. The SDF base doesn’t make sense to me, and the ATL didn’t make sense to me for more than 4 aircraft and their crews given the number of United gates. That is a pretty small base. In ATL, Mesa also moved too slowly to pick up too many of the Xjet crews that were bailing.

If their goal is to preposition staffing on the Ejet for IAD, I think it would make more sense to place a few Ejets at IAD. That will allow CRJ crews to trickle over.

One thing I am glad of. This whole training issue everyone is whining about has been limited to hopefully one instructor since FO’s are making it to the line.

MagPBS, question.

If we open IAD as an E-Jet base, fill out all the vacancies and then close the CR7 base, can the CR7 pilot displace E-Jet pilots to stay in base?

I thought it was always Mesa’s #1 goal to never let that happen?

Why is that Mesa’s goal? To avoid training costs? IAD is getting so small numbers-wise, I am not sure that makes sense from a business perspective any longer.

Those pilots get displaced into the E-jet. Otherwise you close the base first then re-open it. So where are the jets going?

They’re going to Hawaii of course.

I don’t know what is happening with the 700’s, but the number of pilots at IAD is shrinking.

The number of pilots in every base is shrinking. CRJ block hours haven't changed in years. The rumors behind 175's and IAD have been around since the 175 came on property. Just like the rumor we're getting kicked out of DFW has been around since we moved into DFW.

The CRJ's aren't going anywhere at minimum until the contract is up.

IAH hasn’t been shrinking. Someone posted April year-over-year numbers several days ago, IAH has been growing (barely). I think it was 24 total pilots in growth to fly the new Ejets from last April to this April.

I don’t think you’re flying is going to vanish over night. Nor do I think that about anyone’s flying. I think the reality is that transferring of flying is still going to happen, it’s just a matter of how it’s done. No one wants to risk one of their regional partners imploding overnight because everywhere is so strapped for pilots right now there would be no way to cover the flying right away. It will happen slowly and with no big announcements etc. It will be a slow implosion. Kind of like what’s going on at...
