I doubt legally due to conflict of interest a legacy cannot own a regional that flies for your competitor.....Doesn't Mesa fly for Ual, AA?? Now if Mesa was 100% AA flying then yes, it would take a couple years for Mesa to wind down Ual flying for there to be any purchase by AA. I think this has been the holdup for Ual purchase of Xjet throughout the past year, winding down Delta and AA first before anything being official...

A merger of envoy and Piedmont will happen before they buy another regional.
What’s the difference between acquired and buying? It is all moving the deck chairs around. You do realize you can buy a subsidiary with stock and that is still considered buying a company.

What law or legal conflict prevents American from owning Mesa while flying for United? Before the IPO, American owned 20% of Mesa and we flew for United.

And, I predicated American’s purchase of Mesa on United dropping Mesa’s flying. It is the ExpressJet management and union reps that claim ExpressJet is taking the Ejets away from Mesa in IAH. And, it is clear that eventually Mesa’s CRJ700 flying with United is history, replaced with Ejets. If not 2019, in a couple of years.

If a United wind down at Mesa happens, I suspect that like ASA stopped flying for Delta and American before the end of their CPA and an early out was negotiated - we would see the same thing happen here.

But, if the opposite happens and United assigns the 25 new Ejets to Mesa in 2019, I can’t imagine American would want to buy Mesa at the market price.

I doubt in this economy a Major is looking to purchase a Regional.... AA needs to focus on it’s self more then thinking about buying Mesa... Same goes for UA and XJT.. no i could see a Major help “fund” a transaction.

Majors right now are purchasing regionals. With a public regional like Mesa, it is normally a stock swap. A Xjet purchase would probably require cash but I guess SkyWest might take United stock.

We will all know within a few months about United’s plans at least with 25 Ejets replacing 25 CRJ700’s in their fleet.

Endeavor in 2012. Delta didn’t create it from scratch.

United led the ownership group in purchasing CommutAir in 2016.

40% ownership of C5 almost 3 years ago.

Buying Endeavor almost SEVEN years ago.

Tell me again about Majors buying regionals “right now”.....

I know...I know....you don’t admit you’re wrong. Ever. That’s a FANTASTIC attribute for a pilot.

Let’s see what happens with United and Xjet in January before we discount “right now”. Of course, I will admit I am wrong if the transaction doesn’t happen. And, being an ******* is a GREAT attribute of a pilot.

I met Chuck Yeager when I was younger. He was one of those.
