Buying Vacation days~

Hey guys I just started training at Mesa and they were explaining about being able to buy vacation days. How does it work? And in your opinions Is it worth buying these days? Thanks in advance!

Buying vacation days... You are giving the company money to hold onto, to give back to you when you are awarded vacation. Suppose it is a way to get additional days off consecutively as vacation. At least this was the way it was when I was there. I never did it.

Buy a week if you treasure time with your family over the pay and flight time.

After everyone has been awarded their seniority based vacation days, you can bid these 7 days into an days / week that still has open days.

For an FO, it works out pretty well. FO’s quit or upgrade leaving weeks to bid open as the weeks free up. One year I was awarded the week of Christmas because a very senior FO resigned and went to Kalitta. I was Johnny on the spot as soon as the week opened up and got my bid in. It was a great week to be with family.
