Not a Mesa Pilot here. This crap on Mesa pilots fest is sickening. Mesa thought outside the box rather then going under like TSA or Compass. Can’t fault guys for being positive about that. You really expect an entire pilot group to fall on the unemployment sword so you can keep making 250/hr and work half a month? 🙄
Those criticizing would do the same exact thing in their position. Whether you agree or not, they gave themselves a chance to pay their bills. This “we’re all for one one for all” talk is hot air. No ACMI or legacy pilots would ever take cuts to help out a “regional” pilot. The “we had to do it so you do too” line is Bs also. That’s like saying “I had to breath agent orange, so do you Iraq veteran” while you’re both sitting at the VA waiting for a lung transplant. Stop being management fodder and petty and just wish them good luck. We’re all in a situation no one has seen before. Be mad at ALPA national rather than the guy/gal that’s just trying to feed their family if you wanna be mad at all. Other wise wish them the best, see how it plays out, and worry about your own company contracts.

The pay scale is too low especially considering if true that southern guys actually block 80ish hrs. And the zed fair thing is embarrassing. The Union really dropped the ball here. This scares the crap out of me when we need $15 dollar pay raises and min day in negotiations next year.

I love how everyone still touts the “Union”. Like it’s their fault. It’s always “their” fault. When is everyone going to step back and realize ALPA is basically worthless. These companies do what they want no matter what, they give and take as they see fit and then ALPA stands there and tries to take credit, or is at the helm of the bad mouthing. There are a lot of problems with ALPA, but the main one I see is they represent almost every airline out there. If Mesa gets a pay raise or more flying, it was only at the undercut of another ALPA represented regional. Your own union can’t represent your “enemy”. ALPA is worthless. Mesa management came up with this deal and the pay rates. ALPA did nothing but go out to lunch on your union dues money and sign their name at the bottom of the page

Probably not the best idea. You actually are part of the union. Might want to consider recalling and getting rid of everybody in your MEC and negotiating committee though. Maybe get people in there that represent the average line pilot and not just the top 5% of fat cats who will do anything to keep their quality of life and jobs protected while the rest of you fight for scraps.

Came here because I was hopeful that I'd see some positivity here finally, but nope just like before. Even when something like this happens, which is a great thing for us, everyone is still salty. I for one am very excited. With the recent downturn I expected not to be able to fly any kinda mainline airplane for a long, long time. I for one am so happy and thankful for the another great opportunity Mesa has afforded us!

“Real Story“ I bought my house for $205,000 in 2004 with the idea that my house would accrue value and equity which it did. Last summer 2019 houses in my neighborhood were going between $320,000-$360,000. I have finished basement nice yard and investments in my house with the work I’ve had done. I figured I’d sell my home this summer and with all the money I would have made and my home being over a little half paid off I’d get at least $340ish pocket at minimum $150ish and be good. Covid-19 hit great market to refinance. But the values in the houses have gone down. One of the nicest houses in my neighborhood went for $290,000 recently . The point of my real story is I WANT that $360,000 That I saw other neighbors getting a year ago I think it’s worth it. But my home is only worth what someone is willing to pay for it. I’ve paid a lot of money for my career as did you unless you were military or scholarship genius. You and I don’t dictate the rates we can fight for what “we” think we deserve and I’m with you, but in the end it’s the market that dictates what you get paid. If you don’t believe me ask the pilots at British Airways. Pilots lost HALF their pay and they are union! They can either take it or not. You called me a defeatist, my friend I am the opposite a REALIST.
