Applying at Mesa..what I should expect?

How long would be training? CRJ or Ejets? New hires bases...how long would be reserve ? I am living in Phoenix ,how soon I could have PHX as base not a big fan of commuting ( I cannot afford Dulles as reserve..) FO salary with Bonus first year approx $60000 ... second year $35000 ? until upgrade to captain ..how is the company culture, work environment? if I can get the big picture I would really appreciate.

I like Skywest , but I dont want to commute to DTW and be sitting on reserve forever

Ejet 2-3 months training. Only base is IAH.

2 months training CRJ.

CRJ - phx is Sr for Fo. You’ll be in Dulles 1-2 months. Then you can hold dfw or Sdf but you’ll sit reserve Sdf - the only base with a green reserve grid for FO. PHX hasn’t been awarded for months for either ca or fo. I expect that to change. We are seriously short of pilots.

Why?
To be a Skywest pilot he’d be commuting to reserve. Waiting years for upgrade.
And in an environment of “holier than thou” that’ll alienate him from most normal pilots.
The fact that SKW ”think” they’re better then everyone should tell you all you need to know.
We all do the same job. SKW won’t listen to a Mesa jumpseater who caught their mis-readback of an altitude clearance.. and proceeded to bust altitude and “get a phone number” because of their arrogance.
SkyPEST pilots are NO better or worse than anyone else. Don’t need to commute to be with them. Mesa will welcome you and you’ll be part of a great family that is humble and respectful to all.

Wow, talk about an “I told you so” moment.

There should be no hesitation to ask ATC to confirm something if anyone (even a jumpseater) heard differently. Hope they learned a lesson.

Skywest and Envoy Pilots generally don’t respect What they would call bottom feeder regionals. You’ll see once you walk around DFW.

I jump seat on Envoy. I took an envoy jump seater the other day. I haven’t seen this attitude from any at Envoy.
