Is Mesa able to cover any additional flying? Isn’t the company still suffering from staffing issues? YX has been picking up Mesa/XJet flying on the UAX side left and right for the past year. Not sure how constantly cancelling flights and having other regionals pick those flights up at PREMIUM cost outside of a contract will make UA more profitable.. When will it be time to learn something from DL’s operation.

Yes, there will probably be some staffing issues as those pilots transition. But most regionals have no shortage of willing, barely ATP minimum, CFIs to fly the 175. This MAY even help Mesa catch up on the CRJ side as well.

This isn’t additional flying for Mesa. This becomes additional flying for GoJet. The 175s are replacing the 700s one for one. And United needs those 700s Mesa owns for GoJet to be converted to 550s.

Considering the amount of 175 FOs on reserve in Houston, it’ll probably balance out staffing levels a little better, especially since the training footprint for the 175 is down to about 2-3 months. Having IAD as a CRJ base I think is hurting us at DFW, well that and fuel trucks...
From what I read on the latest conference call - we have plans and contingency plans for everyone. I don't see any down sizing or problems with solvency for the airline.

They won't. The will quit or go to the 175. Maybe - maybe 1 or 2 transfer to DFW but I don't expect much impact in DFW. More CA and FO in DFW would be good. My question is - for the guys who just upgraded in the last 3 years on the CRJ in IAD - can they swap to the ejet with this move - given the 3 year seat lock from upgrade?
