Low seniority & 175 base?

I’m new in 121 world. What will happen to the “Youngins” a IAH? Base support at IAD? I was promised an IAH base at sign up!! Will I be moved to IAD because I’m junior?

Welcome to aviation. There’s no guarantees.

Probably iad then go to iah. it depends on how many iad FOs will bid over to the 175. We’re already short in IAD and a lot of them leave for DFW monthly. I would expect IAD out of training.

Well this is if you finish training around May, if you finish before then you don’t have anything to worry about other than base assisting on reserve.

How long is reserve in Houston right now?

Base assisting is the best reserve to have in my opinion. They fly you in on your 1st day and give you a hotel then fly you out on your last day.

Unless you live in houston while on reserve then your in a good situation.

Until they give you a turn on your last day that makes you miss your deadhead and commuting flight back home from base thus causing you another night away. If you don’t already have a crash pad it’s great. If you already have a crash pad it sucks.

If you are base assisting and you have to spend an extra night because of a missed DH they HAVE to give you a hotel.

And a makeup day off.

Base assisting and tdy are not the same thing.

I was tdy. I can’t see anything where I am supposed to get another day off. I got in at 0130 on my day off. It was the one day after my reserve blocks that wasn’t gold.

That's why I said base assist and TDY are not the same. TDY you are there all month and basically a pilot based there. Base assist is being sent from another base for a week within your reserve footprint
