How are they planning on recalling furloughed new hires in March yet are still sending out VLOA’s for the same month.

It’s almost like training a new hire takes two months and there’s going to be an increase in flying durning the summer when school is out and with that timing the new(re)hires would be flying their IOE’s in (takes out calendar to count two months from March) May. One month before summer begins. Almost like magic, or forethought. How weird.

Haven't received a word yet from management about recall. I do try to talk to them regularly and I'll let you know when I get the official notice. Until that happens, consider everything they say as more fiction than fact. When recall does happen, (most likely at some point this year) they aren't going to run much more than 5-7 pilots per month according to the chief. There are about 90 guys on the list and even if only 50 come back it'll take a year to get them them unless the economy drastically snaps back to 2019 levels by the summer/fall. The training spool up is going to be slow, let alone hiring. Mesa is staffed up right now and only needs new pilots to fill in the small amount of attrition from retirements and the senior guys moving to the DHL side of things. Being realistic, right now it looks like we won't even get through the list of the furloughed pilots until at least the end of this year. That being said, Mesa is in a good position for a recovery and very stable. Many in the industry are predicting a rebound but by how much will be the determining factor on future hiring and cadet flow.

were staffed suitable for current levels. If it booms in the summer that will no longer be the case. Unless things are closed down most likely the summer will drastically increase especially once the vaccine is opened to more tiers aka the general public. Hiring also depends on AA and their ability to continue to weather the storm that is their financial crisis. We’re on a seesaw just waiting to see which side is going to be determined to be the “winner”.

It really is the biggest game of wait and see. I’m just waiting to see if the AA bankruptcy rumors are true, and anyone could make a pro con argument outta that. But on the flip side, I guess California solved their COVID crisis and ended the lockdown so maybe that’s a catalyst for vacation travel to resume. Gotta love miracles.

Default Recall

We received this email from Mesa today along with a copy of 17-B of the contract with recall procedures and rights.
------------------------------------
Hello all,I am still making my way through your update email responses but appreciate everyone who has replied! The most common question I’ve received is what the official process is for recall so I’ve attached the details from the pilot contract for your review and planning purposes. As soon as we have dates released the team and I will be reaching out to get you re-slated into a class. As always, we appreciate your understanding and patience!
-------------------------------------
We will see how long it takes to get a recall letter.
