I wonder if management will remember us saving them millions of dollars in training and labor cost come contract time lol

I think not, because at the end of the day it really is all about profits. Just think it’s crazy someone would give them selves a pay reduction when the company is in profits. I truly think some of these people think furlough means you are never coming back to flying.

What they need to be worried about is failing line checks, AQP, FAA violation and accidents. Flying less than full time is going to increase those numbers. Reservists flying 10hrs or less a month, maybe take VLOA for a month or two. That PRIA is what’s going to prevent them from getting a better job in the future, not the lack of flying. It only takes one big accident or some training failures to keep you on the Mesa roster for life.

Flying historically decreases in the winter months, and the flying is only going to be less and less. Why do you think the union sent out the “chair fly” comment? It’s happening already...

I don’t see the pilots getting a better contract for some time. Probably ride the one they have now for 2 more years. Only ones with a foot up are the 737 guys who are untouchable. Feel bad about the 68hrs. Can’t believe it. My prediction is they will be on 68 hrs until next May, or the company will furlough at some point during the winter months as flying dwindles down and the real truth sets in. Should be interesting once the dust settles at United and American. Give it 45-60 days the company will want another concession if the course with UA and American takes a turn.

As FO’s drop off over the next few months, they will have to figure something out. Downgrades or sitting Captains in the right seat. 68hrs and 0 per diem is not sustainable for very long.

If you are failing recurrent at Mesa then you have bigger problems. Mesa is the only company I know that literally spoons feeds all its pilots in training. If you can’t pass a basic v1 cut and SE work, especially in a 175, then you shouldn’t be flying period. Recurrent is AQP, it’s literally laid out in writing about what’s happening and what’s going to be expected.

I agree, but people don’t study and expect the spoon feeding. Show up without looking at any books.

Initial was probably one of the easiest checkrides I had ever taken. My CFI initial was much more difficult then initial here. Seems like most places initials were pretty easy as long as you actually studied and didn't come in thinking you were gonna be handed an ATP and type rating because you had a mere 1500 hours and a pulse.
