Welp. Got the call this morning. They tried to tell me it wasn’t a junior assignment. Then tried to say it’s in my footprint. When I explained that they were wrong the manager said “it’s in your footprint because we don’t have anyone else to do it”. I said too bad. I’m not doing it and hung up.

it’s from show time on day 1 to the original release time on the last day (delays don’t count). If they added it in there it’s in the footprint. Outside of that is not in your footprint.

Maybe you're being being facetious but this is not a game I'd recommend anyone. Either you are available or you are not. If you start negotiating premium pay it's questionable whether you are actually available for this assignment, not to mention they do follow up to CPO on all these types of responses. If you're a lineholder and the assignment is after your release time in your original footprint on the last day you are not required to accept.

I’ve heard this before I don’t understand why it’s so crazy that my availability is tied to compensation. You want to take another day of my life now I can’t fix XYZ at home or now I have to pay the babysitter extra.

btw guys make sure that if it’s a JA they code it that way so you done lose days off

It's for the same reason I no longer elaborate why I am calling in sick when I am not fit for duty. I am simply not fit for duty and that's all I have to say. If you are not available for an assignment, you aren't available. I'm not sure about other bases but in IAH we got an email not too long ago from the CPO telling us not sit there and try to haggle with crew tracking over premium pay.

Your understanding of the word "Available" and the company's understanding are currently at odds.

Junior assignments are always at premium pay.

Premium pay percent is set by base and position.

CS cannot negotiate premimum pay.

CPO can.

JRA pay is 150%. I’m not rolling out of bed on my days off for 150% when I can just pick up 300% that’s a turn with higher credit…

The CPO sent that email out because he’s lazy. You define your availability just like you define your fitness to fly.

use this example if you like. If I were to ask JO to wash my car for $50, he’s not available. However, if I were to offer, and be able to pay, $5 million for him to wash my car I’m willing to bet he’s available. Compensation is absolutely tied to availability.
