It’s not gonna be short most likely. Therefore you’re limited to what 2 legs a day per aircraft? Obviously things like cold weather is gonna effect the performance it just has so many question marks it’s not even remotely viable currently.

Roll coal much? 😂

I’m not against electric. I’m just stating the obvious that the technology isn’t viable yet.

Pilots suck at logistics. But I can see a bank of replacement batteries charging at the outstation as a potential solution to that issue. There's other issues though. Pressurizing it and heating/cooling have to be expensive. Electric compressor to provide something like bleed air would work but how much battery would it drain? Make it like a car and turn two of the engines into generators on descent to charge batteries. There's lots of easy and obvious solutions to issues. This is going to be the future and it'll have growing pains. But it's coming.

New contract?

With horizon ratifying a new contract, what’s our timeline for our new contract? 6 months, a year, two? How does new regional contracts affect hiring at low paying regionals? Is United’s aviates enough to pull people for these regional to not increase pay? Thanks guys.

Don’t forget that for cars, the leap from gas to electric had a stopover at hybrid. Same may be true for aircraft. Bombardier developing a Dash 8 hybrid. Much closer to reality, especially from a certification perspective.

Could you PHX crews please stop turning off the APU’s in DFW. 1 the gate air is NEVER hooked up (key word there being never) and 2 the gate air is NEVER cold (key word there being never) it’s not complicated. Half an hour of the apu off at the gate heats up the plane for HOURS afterwords. I’m tired of apologizing to pax about the airplane being in the mid 80’s because some guys turn off the APU’s constantly.

Based on the rate at which United is taking our pilots in Aviate I would say yes. It appears to out-pace Envoy's lauded flow. That said, they are not having trouble filling classes. Once they do it will be a bonus (funded by United and/or AA) that will supplement the FO first year dismal salary. Then quick upgrade is going to happen again - shortly more than a year. Timeouts will be happening and the company MAY come to the table then to get something done but it will be what the company wants to have done and nothing more than that. I'd say 3 years from the start of negations to a PWA vote. Of course by then they may be able to put it off for years with the loss of the AA contract for failed performance and the transition of the pilot resource over to the united side. All the while Cargo grows slowly but steadily and the pay bump is significant there. Inflation is starting again and the contractual 1% per year is easily outpaced by inflation so every year that goes by the company actually reduces their payroll burden. There is absolutely ZERO reason for the company to even start to discuss where and when to negotiate.

Tell the ramp NOT to hook up PC air. On the CRJ you HAVE to turn off the packs (or damage them - hence all the single pack planes) if the PC air is connected. If I can't get the ramp and I'm going to leave the plane guess what? I'm gonna turn it off because I can't risk them hooking it up after I leave and breaking the plane.
