Mesa Airframes

Quick few questions. I was in OKC today and saw a few of the Mesa Chinese airframes that were being repainted in UAL colors. I think there were 5 or so CRJ7s. One of them was still in the old red paint. Last I heard JO and China were in talks about making a deal on the airline. On some quarterly report JO said China was trying to lowball them a little but due to current cash issues they were still going to move forward with the sale. Has this been changed? Why are those aircraft back in the US did the China regional feed close down and if so what aircraft are those 700s replacing?

Now I've been gone from there about a year now, but last I knew.....the story was that the chineese gov't said that because staffing was so low on those airplanes that the contract was basically a mutual termination.

On that end, I also was unaware that there were any 700s involved. I could have sworn that it was only 200s.

Either way, I'll say this---as much as MAG made life difficult for me, it was way better being there than working at a call center like I am now. Flame away.

They were all 200's and they were the worst of the Mesa Fleet ( 5 AC ). The reason KunPeng dumped Mesa was because Mesa sold them on 900's and Mesa sent old worn out 200's that were constantly breaking down. Combine this with the cluster Chinese MX and management.....guess what...everyone looses. KunPeng has killed all flying for the CRJ guys that went over there and have purchased EMB 190's. A few guys got to transition and everyone else got screwed. Mesa has cut all ties with KunPeng and the deal has been over for a while. They better send every one of those birds through a D Check considering all they have been through.

I could have sworn they weren't 200s.

The birds that were in China and returned to the states this past spring were old worn out 200's....

1 of them is now flying in UAX color schemes. It is a POS through and through. IT still has chinese letters all over them (I think it's N37228)

HAHA yes they need something. Flew one the other night ORD-CAE. Diverted to Indy due to the cargo bottle discharging in flight. Got on the ground. Then all the packs started hi-temping on me. What a PITA. So finally Mx MEL'd the packs and I flew it unpressurized at 9,000ft all the way to CAE. Good times! haha

Probably junior assigned.

paxhauler85 10-01-2009 11:02 AM

Probably displaced. I'd say well over 50% of our pilots are not in the seat, domicile, and equipment they were one year ago.

Aw hell, it's okay. I don't mind it. I like it when things break and I get to ferry them. It's the only time I get to fly it in regular clothes! ;)

Besides, it's always an adventure one way or the other.

Although I was still CLT based when I repo'd the chinese bird to paint, I now get to enjoy the rest of the crap -200's in IAD. Until Jan when the big F comes, that is...

I could not imagine the living hell having to smell someone smoking up front. Just think how bad your shirt would smell, not to mention the wonderful second hand love.
