What is really going on at Mesa?

I haven't heard anyting substantial about Mesa recently. I was just wondering what the status of furloughs is. What DOH are the furloughs up to?

Any positive rumors going on over there? I thought I heard about some new US Airways flying, any truth to that? I think a lot of people were expecting them to fail a long time ago, but are they really swinging either way right now?

Thanks.

Mesa...

I talked to a buddy of mine there. His hire date is 2-14-06. He's 41 from the bottom. Recently he was taken off the 145 and sent to CRJ school. That's pretty much all I've heard, though admittedly don't have my ear that close to the ground. He did tell me the US Airways contract ends in 2011, and I don't think the smart money is betting on a renewal.

Thanks, I didn't know that the US Airways contract was up in 2011. Does anyone know what the status is of the United 700's? What is the deal on the contracts over there?

I know a guy hire date 7/06 just got a furlough notice for 11/1/10

furlough status

There are 80 pilots slated for furlough Sept 1. Spoke with CP and she said that her and EG going to revamp the numbers this week. Should have a better idea next week. Positive outlook for coming out of BK and a good chance of extending US flying, as hinted in 2Q US Air Conference call.

That's wonderful news.

Seeing that is a sobering reminder of how much this industry sucks.

Well at least the high pay makes up for the lack of job security and time with your family.

"Yes this was sarcasm".

Any word on the US Airways Dash 8 flying? Pretty sure Airways is only talking about renewing the CRJ900 flying with Mesa.

Good news for some, but bad news for most of us.

Mesa tried canceling the dash contract when they hit bankruptcy. Every time there is a displacement, training costs go through the roof. Airways said no, we want them in Phoenix. Operating six aircraft of one type is pricy.

Hmm, interesting information. I went to Mesa Pilot Development Program, and am waiting to be hired by them. It's been a year already. If they're furloughing more pilots, it's going to be quite a while before they need a recent grad. Bummer.

I'm sending my resume out to all sorts of different orgainzations - cargo, skydiving, regionals. No bites yet. I'll keep trying...

Thanks for the info!

Better go get a CFI cert. Nobody is going to be hiring MAPD grads again.

Wow, bad investment, As of today you will need a minimum of 1500 hrs and an ATP Check, good luck with it, not trying to be a jerk but there is no elevator to the top, gotta take the stairs. XJT was bidding on this flying but that all changed with the merger news???

IrishTiger 08-09-2010 09:20 PM

That really sucks. I got furloughed in Jan (Sept 07 hire) and regardless of how crappy the company is, I miss flying with the Mesa guys. We always had such a good time, and I'll never forget it. We can thank JO for ruining a company that could have been something good.
