Any rumors on contract extensions post AA/US merger? Read an article that US might be purchasing between 60-100 RJ's. Maybe Mesa might fly some of them?

ALL due to the great people involved. Sorry to have hurt your feelings earlier but now that I seem to have your attention I will give you this advice. If you stick with it things WILL GET BETTER for you. You are on the cusp of the largest hiring boom since Vietnam ended. Regardless of the economy terrorist attacks or anything else, the majors will have to hire replacement pilots. Will you make the cut with this attitude? We shall see. I hope you do and wish you luck. What I don't understand is why someone who is obviously as intellegent as you are would continue to work at a profession that you dispise so much.

Thanks for the respectful post. I'm really tired of going to war on this Forum and headed out camping for the weekend. Like you, I was a Beech 1900 captain for 3.5 years. Was basically a street hire captain. I worked those 8 leg, 12 hour days quiet often. Those were fun times, the pilots were close nit group and the northeast winters were a blast. Made you feel like you working, shooting approaches to minimums in a blizzard, in the middle of BFE. I miss those days because everything was new and exciting. Yes I have become a little jaded, but I do love flying. I also love drinking beer but if you drink to much it causes a hangover and thats how I feel when I'm flying too much, too often. I really just want to get paid a little better. I'm tired of not having enough money to do some of the things I enjoy. I'm an outdoors guy and just want to be able to fill my Jeep up with gas and go snowboarding, kayaking and such. The Jeep payment is part of the problem. But I can't sell it because I have invested to much into that damn thing and will lose a ton of money. Bought it to have fun but it is also keeping from having fun, Ironic. Things are looking good though. I have two interviews coming up, although they are not Legacy carriers it will definitely give me a raise in pay and get me out of this stagnation point. I don't need alot in life, no big house, no fancy car, just give me a board in the water or on the snow and I will be fine.

Hey, no worries, I imagine most people on here can relate to those feelings. Hopefully there will be great movement following great stagnation, and also that the industry will continue fixing pilot compensation.

Continue to fix? Not to be pessimistic just wondering when this happened? From what I have seen lately the downward spiral only continues.

Oh, the bonus offerings and SkyWest and Eagle developing bridge programs. It's a start. I'm attempting to be a glass is half full person here.

I was hoping RAH would have a new fitting contract by now, so that's a disappointer. However, the United pay to non rev for regional carriers only? Now that is really crappy! Unreal.

I used to feel like you. I then got married and had kids. Turns out this job is hard on the kids if the wife does not stay at home. I then became a sole income source. I quickly realized with my first kid that an apartment was too small. Ended up having to buy a house. I then realized my wife can't be driving around a beater car with my kids while I'm at work. I then bought her an SUV. All of the sudden, I need six figures a year to just comfortably support my family. Throw in medical bills, and I'm living paycheck to paycheck. I would be just fine on just a few grand per month. My family not so much.

Just got the e-mail to interview. Are those pay rates accurate? It looks like you don't make much for 3 and top out low 40's for the next 10.

EatMyPropwash 04-09-2013 07:12 PM

bump. Update on interview process as well.

I second this! It's all good times until real life kicks in and you have to provide for more than just yourself. I know JO makes sure his kids are taken care of.
