We have killed the Military pool and it's down to a trickle. A majority of our new-hires are coming from the regionals now. We are also hiring from the LCC's, but there are many that are content at their current LCC, or they are there because they don't have a degree and simply won't get looked at by the big 3. The expats are not looked as highly upon and I'm not sure why. I would think draining at least the ME3 ranks would be a good thing, give the Shiehk's a pilot shortage.

The problem with your question is that it's obvious you've done literally zero research about the company. If you want it as an FO, you have to be awarded IAH/e175 out of training. If you're awarded a crj class, you can't bid over unless you upgrade into it. The problem with that is the e175 is staffed, so unless we get more, it'll be a while.

Actually 175 hiring is continuing for the time being.

Really? Why are they stopping when they're so short on FO's? To the point of holding back guys who were awarded CRJ CA...

Yeah, I learned my previous info was out of date about 5 mins after I posted it. Classes continuing for at least another couple of months which makes MUCH more sense. Original plan had been to stop in June but that changed...apparently quite recently.

I'm sure there are, but not as many as there used to be. A couple of years ago when the majors started this big hiring boom there were a TON of Military folks that were about to get hired around the '08 timeframe but majors were cutting back, furloughing, merging, etc. Those were the folks filling the new-hire ranks. There will always be Military pilots that'll be hired, but the pool is much lower than it was a couple of years ago. Another key element, just like the RJ Captain with thousands of hours TPIC that aren't getting a call, is the background, more precisely a "black mark" in the background. Not a slam on our Military folks, just is what it is.

Gotcha ok. Makes sense. Any idea when upgrade classes might start up again for the 175? Or are they truly properly staffed?

The Captain side is better staffed than the right seat for now. I wouldn't anticipate any upgrades until either there is some attrition or until some of the initial cadre guys go back to the CRJ. Last I heard, the next upgrade class is scheduled for Spring 2016....but as proven just a few minutes ago, plans change.
