(b) No person may conduct operations under this part unless, for that type airplane, either the pilot in command or the second in command has at least 75 hours of line operating flight time, either as pilot in command or second in command. The Administrator may, upon application by the certificate holder, authorize deviations from the requirements of this paragraph (b) by an appropriate amendment to the operations specifications in any of the following circumstances:
(1) A newly certificated certificate holder does not employ any pilots who meet the minimum requirements of this paragraph.
(2) An existing certificate holder adds to its fleet a type airplane not before proven for use in its operations.
(3) An existing certificate holder establishes a new domicile to which it assigns pilots who will be required to become qualified on the airplanes operated from that domicile.
By the time our class hits the line in July, I am almost certain that the 75hr requirement will have been met by the vast majority of check airman and upgrades that are going through the E175 training at Flight Safety at the moment.

Keep in mind that the first revenue flying starts (I think) June 15 and is just 3 cities with 1 airplane. I don't see any way ALL of the initial cadre and current trainees will have 75 hours by anytime in July... Simply not enough days in the month to accommodate all of those guys. Also keep in mind that there are upgrade classes currently and upcoming every couple weeks as we speak. It's going to take a lot to get all of those Captains off green-on-green.

Rumor I heard is flights will initially be operated by a pair of Captains to expedite getting their 75 hours before new hires hit the line, at least initially.

Good luck everyone!

So a little advice, as a former mil guy who is from Houston how does Mesa rank with the other options? Xjet and Skywest also have Houston bases, but an upgrade would take forever at both. Are the pay scales for the Ejet the same as what's shown on Mesa's APC profile? Only $32/hr in year 3? Have new hires at Mesa been given the choice of Ejet or CRJ?
