My buddy was supposed to fly from ORD to ICT tonight but the flight got cancelled. The reason United gave to the pax was it was due to ATC. I dont really understand this. It was cancelled almost 4 hours before the scheduled departure time. Is there a more detailed explanation for the cancellation? Or is that just a made up excuse to cover up the real reason, for example, the plane not having enough pax to make it worth to fly the trip or something like that.

4 hours before seems strange. My guess is either maintenance or no pilots. Airlines lie all the time about these things

What is weather for $400.

Looks like a really nasty line of thunderstorms is in the area. Kansas is known for tornadoes this time of year.

The inbound flight from ATL was cancelled and the AC was repositioned from ATL to ICT. Must have had a very long delay due to tstorms. United does this quite often.

ORD was on a GDP most of the afternoon... the crew may of had duty issues had it waited out its EDCT flew to Chicago, then flew to ICT with the weather that was forecast there.... therefore ATC would have been the root cause of the cancellation.

Thanks for this. Why would I have to lie about who it is? It is not like I got caught in a prostitution ring and my 'buddy' is looking for a lawyer. I used all of the available resources to find out what I wanted to know and to your dismay, the guys here at APC gave me the most informative answer since I do not fly the airlines very often. Thanks for being rational. Go complain to the mods.
