I had a similar experience a few years ago. Same outcome. Also a huge fan.

Thanks for all the feedback about Tricare. From what I learned through my service period, Tricare is the best option after retirement. However, a retired Navy Chief that is now an Army civilian in my office said he prefers the federal coverage to give him more options. It is encouraging to hear that Tricare is still a good option unless the out-of-pocket expenses are worth the ease of access in your particular area. I definitely do not want to give up a portion of my smaller paycheck for unnecessary coverage.
