Maybe we should just go to LOX, seemed to work for a few decades or so. Yes LOX is dangerous and has problematic logistics but so is JP and things that fly off the rails.

Well, the time for the 30-day review is up. I am sure we will be enlightened tomorrow, May 22.

Well, the 30-day report by some admiral on the OBOGS system in the T-45 and the Hornet is several days past due and I, for one, can't find anything on it. If anybody knows please post a link.

I don't expect there to be a document available for a public link. |
So the Admiral is going to all the T-45 bases, all the F/A-18 air stations, and all the deployed carriers with F/A-18s on board to brief the aircrews? Somebody should buy him a smartphone instead.

Must be the new Navy. |
Ah, 'community outreach' Barack Obama style. Briefing about the problem is ever so much better than fixing the problem permanently.

From a Cobham (one manufacturer of the OBOGS systems) brochure: "Cobham has established the installation of its flight-proven On-Board Oxygen Generating System (OBOGS) on the Lockheed-Martin F-16 Falcon aircraft to replace the liquid oxygen system (LOX). Minimal modification is required to retrofit the aircraft with OBOGS."
It would seem that if minimal work is required to replace the LOX system, minimal work would be required to reinstall the LOX system (or install it on the T-45). What am I missing? Is the admiral still doing his traveling lecturing gig? |
