Looking for input on contact information for previous military assignments when filling out information on sites such as Pilot Credentials.

1. I am retiring next year after 22 years, do employers want me to go all the way back to my first duty assignment?

2. What information did you all provide and did you receive any feedback or other techniques to address the issue?

I'm wondering because if I provide a phone number or address and they try to contact them, PVT Snuffy answering the phone won't have a clue as to who I am.

I sat through one of the Ready Set Takeoff Application Webinars. Each assignment should be a separate entry and in some cases if you held multiple major jobs in a single duty station those jobs should be split as well.

I provided the name of my reporting senior during that time period and the current phone number even though nobody at those locations would know who I am. I have never heard of an airline reaching that far back in a job history.

Reasoning behind the listing of jobs (as explained to me) is to show a logical career progression and training history as well as letting HR build a picture of who you are and how you got to this point in your life.

Most companies will want a five year history broken out by duty assignment and 10 years for PRIA.

Go all the way back unless they specify otherwise in writing, including significant TADs'

They know the supervisor won't still be there 20 years later, if for some reason they really wanted to verify your assignment that far back they would probably ask for paperwork (orders, fitrep's, etc).

I was damn glad I kept all those old paper SF-86's...

Thanks for the all the advice. The different formats and levels of information that the different companies want is mind boggling. Yeah, thankfully I hung on to one of those SF-86s as well. Cheers.

If you can't find your SF-86, just email the nearest Chinese embassy. They can get you a copy.

Yeah, dig out all your old fitness reports. Even your time as a 2LT student. I used Google to get phone numbers. If they really want to call the unit and ask about my performance as an LT in the 1980's, have at it. In cases where a unit was disbanded, I just put the post operator number. Again, good luck to tracking down anyone who knew me.
Each time you change positions, new entry. If you go from being a line pilot to a desk job, emphasize your duties and leadership in the job description.
If you had enlisted time they will want your basic training unit and all assignments as well.
If you were ROTC put that somewhere in your schooling. Lets them know you weren't just partying.
Some want to see high school employment. Yeah.
Flight time... some want it factored, some don't. I never factored mine. It was wheeled RW time anyway, so didn't matter. I was Army and have a closeout, but employers often want to see a paper logbook as well.
