Thanks for the advice guys! I am in very good shape, but probably not special forces shape/mentality. But I will still ask my recruiter when I meet her next.
I spoke to my boss and he totally fine with the time I'd be away for basic which was very reassuring. Basically whatever I needed, he told me he had me covered.
I am going to fill out my application packet this weekend and hand it into my recruiter on Monday. I am then going to just take a week off to think before I make my final decision.

Hey guys,
Just figured I'd give a quick follow-up. Thanks for all of the thoughts and advice.
I did end up requesting an infantry spot and will go do my physical/oath next week. I will be in the 2-108th infantry division. I asked about the whole special forces thing. One of the recruiters in the office told me that basically if I qualify in like the top 1-2% of the trainees, I can sign up for the training, or something along those lines. Guess I'll just have to give it my all!
On a side note I wasn't excited to hear they don't let you wear contact lenses and instead I get these 3'' thick glasses lol.

Recruiters HATE when people want to be Warrant officers/Pilots off the street. There is something about the way those types of recruits don’t fill their required slots and it takes a long time to finish the whole training footprint and be a successful “hire” for that recruiter. Many will lie and insist that you enlist first to be a crew chief/mechanic before becoming a warrant officer pilot.
The same goes for commissioned officers! Every ARNG recruiter I’ve spoken to has insisted that I must enlist first.

*sigh* well I didn't even consider this but I have MEPS the day after tomorrow and I happened to look at 11B on the balance again. and well fantastic: "normal color vision required". Well I guess that's that lol. I mean I knew R/G would limit me in flying, but not keep me from infantry.

Just got out actually about 2 and a half hours ago funny enough.
I failed the book test, failed the lantern test, but passed the pages that have green or red blocks on them so I was able to still go infantry.
I swore in and ship out in 2 and a half months. It's exciting, and a bit scary. But mostly exciting!
