You may want to resubmit and try to polish up your resume and/or application. Although an 83 may get you an interview, the odds are against you. You can score a possible 100 points, and up to an additional 10 for Veterans preference. The competition is stiff out there...

Good Luck

Ran into a CE550 crew in El Centro today. Hope these pictures will motivate those of you hoping to become CBP pilots.

Notice the strange (even stranger ;)) nose of the CBP CE550 with the APG-66 radar and the FLIR bubble underneath the fuselage.

For those of you that are waiting for your interviews and are wondering what to expect at the interview, I found this on cbp's website. Very informative, it would have given me a better idea what to expect. Hope it helps.

Did you guys go out and rent a 206 or something to get ready for the flight portion? I think it would be pretty tough to just jump in and go coming from a CRJ. Do they provide you with some power setting or aircraft manual prior to the interview?

I flew a 172 once and a 172RG once, that was it. I paid some kid to put me through the wringer on stalls and slow fight. It was alot less painless than I thought it would be. The nice part to me was on the missed approach and holding portion; it seemed like I had four days to think about the proper entry and MAP. As for power settings and speeds; my guy basically talked me through them as the manuever was going on. Very fair check ride in my opinion. Not easy, but no gotchas. Great bunch of guys in OKC. After the interview, the experience made me want the job even more.

Jeez, I have a pic of CBP ship 5408G on my desktop, but those pics are even better. Went out and got a Citation type and everything for this. Flew everything I could raw data for the last month. Sounds like a great job. Just hope my 89 holds up.

Good luck! It is a long process, but I believe worth it.

I hope so... I would love to still be able to work in the Government. My grandfather and my father were both USAF (non-flying positions) and I want to still serve my country. I know it won't be any time soon (wishful thinking :P) but I would love to do this for a few decades.. I'd rather do this than fly for a regional.
