My former AF Reserve unit hired from all branches and airframes. If you are a commissioned officer, you join the ANG or AFRsv in that rank. No starting over.

To the OP, I would consider applying for pilot spots in the ANG and see what happens. Realize that you'll have to get waivers if you had > 5 years of total federal commissioned service and if you're over 30, but I have seen those aplenty with former NAVs/CSOs. Also realize that the poster above that took 10 years from UPT graduation to get the the airline may have had more to do with timing. That said, I'd find a ANG/Reserve squadron to hire you, then consider the regionals to build time fast. Best of luck!
