ANG Technician to regional?

Been a ANG tech at a guard base for a couple years and burnt out with the office work and BS. My goal is UA/AA/JB, but my PIC is low d2 late AC upgrade thanks to my training department/deployments.

Any ex guard or reserve technicians on here have luck doing a regional (paycut) for a year or two to build total time, while maintaining PIC time at your guard/reserve unit? Thanks

You would have your choice of regional, and could upgrade quickly due to your TPIC (assuming it is crewed aircraft vice single seat).

You would likely get called by a major fairly soon once you get more PIC, (especially if you're in fighters).

Some of the piloting job search takes a leap of faith now & then. No need to be reckless, just no guarantee one action will lead to the next.

I do know, even with pay aside, most pilots like to be out piloting. One can’t expect a seat at a major X number of years out. It’s possible to not have a chair when the music stops.

We all have our individual history, which comes into play. Some of that includes the training record, education transcripts, driving record, and even interview skills.

The military experience as an aviation tech would be a definite plus, just put the rest together.
