Default Hiring opportunity

All, first thank you for taking the time to respond. My question is fairly simple. I am wondering what my chances are of getting hired by a major with the following credentials:

-4300 hrs total fixed wing time (mostly C-130 but T-6 and T-1 for training)
-2500ish hours PIC
-ATP complete. Multi-engine land and English Proficient.
-First class medical with no restrictions
-Passport current
-No Q-3's

Anything I am missing? I feel as though I would be competitive but I also want to insure stability for my family. That is the greatest influence on my decision on whether to stay in the military or go. Once again, I appreciate your time and effort in your responses.

Respectfully,
Adam

You’ll likely have at least a couple of choices if the apps are straight, interviews go well, etc. Getting an interview shouldn’t be an issue.

Probably decent. Total time is a tad low but PIC time is healthy.

You’ll have a job when you get out. What kind of job depends on flight currency and how well you’re prepared in that final year of getting out.

If your record is clean and you’re flight current leaving you’ll probably be interviewing within your first year of getting out if you don’t have a job at the majors waiting. Plan on applying to all and having a regional as a backup plan for a bit if you need it.

Looks good. Internal recs and professional interview prep will help maximize your odds of getting offers at your top choices.

I know several heavy drivers who have gotten hired at majors with less total and less PIC than you, so take that for what it is worth.

DL’s mil only time candidates in 2014-2015 averaged 3100 TT and 2200 PIC. Your numbers are fine.

Big question - are you currently flying? How much in the last 12 months?

No mention of IP. A 4,000 TT guy with no IP qualification is an outlier in the military.

You can get a regional 121 IMMEDIATELY when you separate. If you don’t have a major job when you separate go out and get a 121 FO job. Don’t think you’re too proud for it. That might get you additional interviews OR your current offer might be delayed. Spoke with a new hire who’s dream job class has been pushed back and then delayed...and he’s looking at four months unemployed and is starting to wonder if he should have kept his foot on the gas (121 regional job) trying to generate other major job opportunities.

Keep in mind all offers are just that...offers. Until you get your seniority number it’s just an offer. Don’t sit back and wait for it to come to you instead actively pursue establishing your future.

Stay in the reserves and get a reserve retirement. Even if it’s only a points only job.

2450 TT, 1100 PIC, IP/EP and I am sitting on two CJOs with another interview next month. You should be able to get interviews.

I felt Checked and Set (app review) was worth the $300 and I started getting calls after fixing the things Charlie recommended. Emerald Coast was probably worth the $500 if for nothing more than interview confidence and helping me keep my foot out of my mouth. RST I have not gotten my $$$s worth yet but I also haven't been contacted by Delta or FedEx yet either so it hasn't been a priority.

One of the CJOs I'm sitting on is from Frontier; I took that interview completely cold, before doing ANY prep, and didn't even really google the gouge first. They were my "safety school" airline, the worst-case, nobody else calls job. My friend there put in a rec but also strongly dissuaded me from seriously pursuing them because of the management toxicity they have now. It felt good to see what a cog test looked like, experience an LOI, get raked over the coals in a panel interview and get the job offer, definitely good practice for the other airlines and at least a safety net in my pocket.

Definitely start rushing an Air Guard or AFRES squadron, or two, or three. In the wonderful Herc or something else. I was able to leave AD on day last of one month and sign in to AFRES unit on day first of next month. No break in service.
The pay will keep you comfortable while you wait for the commercial side to start for you.
Start rushing now. Bring donuts in the AM, beer after lunch. And I mean do BOTH.

If you don’t mind me asking, who else did you get a CJO from? Reason I ask is because my hours are pretty much exactly like yours...
