ANG and school possible
 

is it possible to go to grad school full time and work with ANG on the side?
I have no prior military experience so I’m not sure.... I hear the ANG is mostly part time and have a flexible schedule

As a pilot (assuming that’s what you meant) you’ll be in training for about 2 years then need another 1-2 years for seasoning. No real opportunity for school there. Once you are part time it’s mostly doable with a few caveats (airframe, optempo, unit location, grad school location, etc).

Additionally there will be military distance learning programs available which count as masters (and punch other mil tickets). Those may be rank limited for LT's but I think most are available to O3's. Typically a lot of work but also free.

Hmm, that sounds like it’ll be 4 years before I can commit to grad school. I’d like to start sooner than that. But it seems like an interesting option later down the road if I want to fly after my studies...

I did my masters full time* on active duty.

* I did have to take a knee during instructor upgrade and drop down to one class that semester, and it wasn’t an in-residence program but it did require me to attend the campus for the first and last weeks and take two week-long international trips for classes abroad.
