I am a specialty recruiter for the Air Force Reserve hiring pilots.

Hi, there are no age waivers for unsponsored applicants at this time. It is correct that the age limits without waiver have just been increased to 33. Thank you and best of luck!

Rushing to getting hired takes some time, then getting hired to starting UPT is about 12-18 months, so you are looking at 38 at least, probably 39, before starting. The Air Force needs pilots, but there are still quite a few qualified applicants. The issue is on the retention side, not as much on the accessions side. But I for one got hired at an older age (not quite your age...) so I would never tell anyone it’s not possible...just not probable.
