Exactly the reason my husband left active duty at 12 years, and didn't go guard or reserve.

We have a lot of new guys who whine and belly ache about having to deploy for a mere 6 months. The usual cop-out is "I only joined so that I could build time for a job in the regionals." I guess if anything, I admire their honesty.
