Default Bose A20 Military to Civilian Conversion, 737

If I want to use my single-prong Bose A20 headset for civilian flying (737's), I need to convert it to a low-impedance two-prong civilian headset.

There are conversion cords out there but I've read bad reviews when used with the 737. Bose sells a new cords for ~$300 but I was looking for something cheaper. Anyone have a solution that worked for them?

have you tried calling bose? I've heard of people calling and getting a significant discount, like somewhere in the range of 50% for this exact thing. Good luck.

Considering you are taking a $1000+ headset provided by the military and now using it for personal reasons, you come off as a little cheap ass to not just pony up the $300 for the cable and mic.

Thanks Sar1 - I called them but there was no discount available, sadly. And with their solution you have to change out the entire cord every time you want switch between military and civilian. Anyone have any luck with the conversion cords they sell on the pilot websites? The reviews on those are limited and mixed at best, so I'm hoping to find a solid recommendation on here.

Could always do what everyone else does and use the ship set or buy a headset? You’re a major airline pilot aren’t you? You can get QC35s and a UFlyMike or NFlightMic for fairly cheap.

No, there's not a good alternative solution aside from buying the new correct impedance/power/configuration down-cord and mic.

When I was in the MC-12 <yaaack!> we had Bose X with a single prong. I simply took on of the one-into-two splitter cords the Comm guys made, and it works fine in Boeing jets.
I would guess the MC-12 had the same impedance. What airframe are you talking about?

I'd recommend the DC Pro-X for airline flying. The A20 seem a little too "private pilot" to me.

I use the Bose A20. Never used the David Clark. Interested in your review, and why you recommend it over the Bose in this thread.

I bought a “Pilot USA PA-88” adapter (Pilot-USA.com) and it works great, no issues in the 737 or any other airplane at my company.

I did not have C-17 impedance A20s, mine were normal impedance.
