I did for 11 years flying until got to senior and no choice but leave. Lousy promotions! Was either retire or move on in the bumpity bump selection system. With the assignment system changed to Boards, less likely to homestead in Navy anyway.

You can homestead in the ANG, it may limit your O-6 opportunities, otherwise no real issues. Even at that, right now, as long as you have Air War College done and are willing to stay (come back) full time, you'll likely make O-6.
