Default Army NG or reserve FW

Any word out for ARNG or Reserve hiring fixed wing currently. 60 Guard guy here looking to transition to fixed wing. I have my ATP multi and commercial single, and already work for an airline. Needless to say I would not take the qualification and run to the airline, I truly enjoy flying fixed wing and want to transition to the FW side of the Army.

Not likely anytime soon. Both battalions (USAR) are massively over strength and they’ve been directed from Higher to cut all the fat.

To me, it sounds like a lot of jelly-fish on the RW side taking the money...

The term “fat” was referring to all the excess aviators on each company ATP. The money and flying hour thing is a tangetial issue.

I visited my local FW Reserve unit and was told the same thing. They aren’t taking anyone right now. I figure it’s all about timing. Sucks but that’s reality. Apparently there are two guys that have been waiting 1.5 years for an AQC slot. Now only one gets to go due to the budget. I don’t blame pilots for not leaving. Why would you. Log good time, possibly even UC35 time. Bypass the regionals straight to a mainline carrier. I’m still gonna keep trying though.

Have you thought about fly for the Air National Guard or Air Force Reserve? You can submit a DD368 (conditional release) and do an inter service transfer. You will probably have to go through UPT but you will get to fly FW. Just an idea.
