Default Navy Helos to Primary T6 IP to SWA?

Heard some things through the grapevine that RW guys who have gone to instruct in T6's at Primary getting picked up by Southwest afterwards. Anyone know a guy that knows a guy that's done this or just another rumor? Thanks!

In my SWA new hire class in 1994 there was a Marine Helo pilot that got hired based on his time as a T-34 pilot. Unfortunately he got fired not even 6 months into his probationary year.

Theres a recently retired marine that did a VT tour who interviewed at SWA right around the completion of their first year flying the line as a FO at one of the AA Wholly Owned regionals.

Yes I know one. You won’t get the kind of hours you need in a single IP tour. This guy had tons of reservist flying under his belt and easily over 3k in the turbo weenie. It is easily doable though, especially these days. There are no multi engine fixed wing mins at SWA because the F-16 only has one engine.

Yes, I know one. Marine, flew his butt off for 4 years, did MEFW time building on the side, ATP/CTP, and ATP+737 Type. I think he had 1500+ FW by the time he left, most of which was PIC.

Typical Navy tour is now ~30-32 months to give you OBLISERVE to a third tour, so figure about ~1000 FW Hours in that time if you fly your tail off (WX, MX, Schedules depending). Others seem to be a year to two or so at a regional to get current off the boat and Check the 121 box.

There was one Navy H-60 guy in my new hire class. I don’t know his flight hours, but he was among the youngest in the class (early 30’s) and had done a stint in T-6’s
