The "risk" discussion was very specific to a guy with a legacy CJO and some time to kill... in that case bizav is all downside, no upside.
91/135 is what it is, always has been and always will be. If want to make it a career, bro up and laser focus on only the best gigs. Those exist and if you have motivation and a good resume you can get there. But not by shotgunning apps on the interwebs... going to need to network aggressively. |

Understand your point...my concern if I was getting out is betting on that CJO to still be there when you get out...FEDEX had a whole slew of CJOs for their pilots that I understand now to be nul and void. If other CJOs from other 121s are legally binding, I'd agree with you assessment. If however one banks on the CJO and one hasn't been looking for a backup, the pilot may find himself missing out on opportunities. We hired a SB pilot who had a CJO from SWA and at the end of his time, he left and did fine. If one has confidence in one's flying ability and to handle the challenge, then I think the risk is far less than the risk of a CJO disappearing because of conditions completely out of control of the applicant, i.e. economic downtown, slower than normal hiring in the future, new procedures in HR department resulting in applicants having to start all over. Just another perspective from a 121/135 pilot with 25+ yrs watching the crazy cycles. BTW, Thanks for moderating all us gumbas and keeping the comms/opinions flowing |
