I believe you need to take a Form 8 showing that you're an IP in the SEL aircraft... not just qualified in it. Is that what you were told? I was told that by a FSDO Ops rep, however, Sheppard Air probably knows better.

Also, not sure if they would give you the CFI rating should you became an IP in the F-35 since there are no two-seaters are available. This came up years ago in a similar situation I was involved in.

Correct for the Form 8 must state IP. Sheppard air said T-6 or F-35 would allow you to gain a CFI. Haven’t talked with a FSDO yet though.
