They could have just left the KC-10s to burn. Save the taxpayers the cost of flying them to the boneyard.:D

Might convert them to water tankers. California is going to need all the help they can get.

When I lived in Colorado, I watched the DC-10 tanker dropping on the Black Forest fire. Very impressive!
