I've had USAA for over 27yrs. Great service. Every auto claim has been done quickly and without hassle. Home owners insurance was just a letter from an inspector of my choice, super simple.

Left years ago and saved $$$ since. Happened to switch to Liberty Mutual for homeowners from Progressive since LM was roughly half the cost. About a month after we had a nasty wind storm, had roof damage, and made a claim. Quick, painless, new roof. Only thing I use USAA for is banking.

Mortgage department is horrible - another story of botched closings, wrong rate, and hidden closing costs on a VA loan that had to be refunded after years of arguing.

Pulling the ad was a bad move. They lost thousands of loyal customers. I started with USAA in 1987. I cancelled them after the wokeness appeared. That is 30+ years. I had no problem cutting the cord with USAA and had no problem finding suitable, cheaper and infinitely better alternatives out there. I absolutely disagree with your statement: "If you refuse to do business with companies that are socially involved, you will quickly run out of options." Hardly the case. You are pretty ignorant to make such a claim BTW. I was also growing tired of their customer service and crappy loan service and ridiculous underwriting practices anyway. We now do autos with Geico (saved like 40%). Boats with Progressive (saved 35%). Homeowners with a local company (saved 38%). Mortgage is with a local bank. <3% after a refi we did a few months ago. We never used USAA banking or credit cards. |
To add to the above post my yearly USAA rebate was 800 in Dec and my senior rebate in Feb was 1400. 2200 in rebates offset a large portion of my insurance costs with USAA.

Or do I just buy a used car, same make and year, from a guy named Larry on Craigslist? Larry is "moving overseas" and is selling at a great price. I could save $1000 bucks. Do I buy an "Apple refurbished" IPhone from the Apple website, or do I save some $$$ and buy a used Iphone off Ebay. "gently worn, some blemishes" I go with USAA for a reason. Never had an issue. I do NOT use them for mortgage, simply because Wells Fargo beat them on rates, and Wells Fargo did not require a sworn affadavit and full scope polygraph like USAA did just to get a home loan. But that is another story insurance, banking, credit cards = USAA |

Just had my daughter total one of my cars in April and the process with seamless and easy. Way more than expected for the settlement and great support throughout. I'll take that over saving a few bucks with some other company. Banking, credit cards, umbrella and life insurance. Great products and good value in my experience. |

Sailing... I insured my new Center console Boat back in 2004 with USAA and had coverage until I got rid of it in 2019... I do believe they offer Boat coverage... But maybe I was paying for something I did not have??? Hummm...
