Default Retired Mil to Corporate

Any retired military guys/gals go corporate over the airlines and if so how did you like it and do you recommend it over the airlines? If so do you recommend a certain path to a good corporate job in the SoCal area?

Google 'ProPilot'. there's a *world* of information on a certain site for someone looking into Corp, Charter, and contract pilot jobs.
Great place to gather information and make friends.

Pro Pilot World is what is referred above—for a price, but very good, lots of solid information, I’d just say the airlines are a very standardized job—seniority progression, T&C by contract, mostly “cog in wheel”. Every and I mean, EVERY corporate job is different. Every means to the job is different—networking, employment head hunters, rumors at FBOs on who is hiring. Entrepreneurial deal. Some great, unicorn jobs flying “big iron” for front page people. Other hidden gems flying owners no one knows.

Corporate/Private jobs are going begging even at 300k in the Northeast/TX and Cali. Even commuting at some jobs is possible in this market. Pick your poison,

My generic response to mil guys looking to go corporate is to repeat some advice I received from a friend who had done so. He entered the corporate arena direct from the DV world of mil aviation where he picked up some valuable type ratings. His advice was don’t take a job from an individual whose net worth is under a billion dollars. If they aren’t worth that much they really can’t afford you.

Obviously, fractional companies have added complexity to this market. Basically, corporate flying can be the best gig out there. It is also even less guaranteed than flying for your favorite occasionally bankrupt pax airline. I chose to go a different direction, but corporate flying can be a great fit for some folks.
