Ata

Anyone on here going to the ATA conference in Nashville? It's the first one I'm going to and I hear it's a blast.

So how was it? I've been hearing for years how great it is, finally got signed up this year but didn't have the time to go. Tell me how much I missed.

It was good overall. It was held at the grand ol opry hotel/convention center in nashville, tn. There were almost 5,000 participants. The speakers were average, but the free alcohol and friends from all over made the trip definitely worth it.

Palace "Freeze" ?

I missed out on ATA but I heard that someone from AFPC gave a brief on Palace Chase and what the current outlook was with letting pilots out...I heard it wasn't good (ie. they used the term "palace freeze"...)

Anyone who was actually there attend that brief?
Thanks!

I was at that brief -- and the AFPC briefer indeed used the term "palace freeze." He said that we "made the Guard & Reserve healthy last year" but "if you have an ADSC today, plan on serving it out."

When someone asked about the future size/scope of aviation continuation pay the briefer said "what's that?" The guy actually had to tell him "You know, the bonus?" Someone asked about the lack of experience and manning in the ops squadrons.

The briefing didn't really say anything we didn't already know - more UAVs, more 365's and more AMLO tours are all headed the MAF's way. And we'll all be doing more with a lot less.

Former AMLO here--what did they say about AMLO tours?

The AFPC Lt Col actually said some good things about the AMLO duty. He described it as being the one-stop-shopping expert regarding air mob for numerous joint ops esp with the army. He further described that AMLO is here to stay and has a solid future in our joint business.

They are actually giving AMLO duties out of IDE assignment drops.

Of course he's going to talk it up. That's hilarious though about getting it out of IDE. Let's all hear it for ACSC in Correspondence! Ha Ha!

That's sounds a lot like the Tanker Weapons school that AMC was talking up a few years ago. When there were few volunteers that started saying how it was an elite program for the best of the best. The truth was that anyone who volunteered for it was selected.
