Default F-18 backseat joy ride video series

With the Blue Angles no less......lucky SOB. Funny to watch the guy do the "funky chicken". I'd probably loose it too, it's been a long time since I've done more than 2G's....at least intentionally.

enjoy!

I would pay good money for a ride like that. I'd give my firstborn if the F-18 is piloted by my special friend. Wink wink.

Man! The take-off looks so intense. I want to do that soooo bad! haha. I don't care if I get sick or how many times I pass out. How could anyone ever pass up an opportunity like that? Thats awesome.

It is an awesome video. It also shows how talented and "on the edge" those guys fly. Unfortunately the pilot flying in the video was the Blue Angel that was killed this summer.

Ok, I think this will get me banned for sure, but I don’t know how else to express myself – if I had the proper anatomy, I would get a woody watching this video!

BDGER, can you answer some questions:
1. Are you in any of the videos or pictures? Just a “yes” or “no” will suffice.
2. Is it protocol that each Hornet be catapulted off the ship?
3. How fast is it going at the moment the wheels are up?
4. What are all the numbers moving around the screen? It almost made me dizzy.
5. The pilot kept looking up even when the plane was upside down. What do you suppose he was looking at?
6. What is the purpose of flying an airplane upside down?
7. What is the possibility of little old moi getting a ride in one of them? I’m a law abiding, tax paying citizen after all.
8. Is there a “shelf life” to being a fighter pilot? Meaning, is there a point in time when you know you’re just not as sharp any longer and it’s time to hang it up?
9. Do you think our Canadian friends in Cold Lake are as good?

1. Maybe, maybe not
2. If one wishes to keep flying after reaching the end of the flight deck, yes
3. Depends, off the end of the CAT shot about 170ish KIAS
4. Heads Up Display information aka HUD
5. The ship for reference
6. Depends on the tactical situation, but many reasons
7. 2 chances, slim and none
8. I imagine there is, haven't hit it yet, will let you know
9. Depends on the pilot I guess

Looks like the Canucks fly upside down too! And for no discernable reason. He's got his wheels down. Doesn't he know he can't land upside down!!

Check out the nice 25th anniversary paint scheme.
