Default Any F-16 ANG guys here?

Hey guys, I'm currently a Marine Hornet guy had a couple q's. My wife needs to relocate back to the midwest for some medical issues. My plan is to get out of the Marines in 2 yrs, move to the midwest and try to find a Viper slot somewhere. My main question is, is it possible to send an application to a unit for a UPT slot even though I wouldn't have to go through UPT? I see a few Viper slots open on the ANG website, but wasn't sure if they were really "open." I am 30 so would probably need an age waiver for the selection board if I am even eligible. I'll be 32 when I get out and will be right around 2000hrs in the Hornet.
Any info anybody has would be greatly appreciated. I've fought the guys from Buckley and Luke alot and from what I remember those guys said that like everywhere else, its all, "who you know." So I am basically just wondering if applying for a slot is even an option or do I need to "rush" a unit?

You will need to rush a unit. If you're a Hornet guy in the Marines, you won't need to go through UPT and will have no age restriction. Tulsa has Vipers, Ft. Smith is converting to the Hog. Hard to get into Buckley unless you live in CO. If you tell me where you're thinking of moving I could give you better advice. Either way, when you show up, preferably on a drill weekend, have a big bottle of Jack in hand.

Thanks Slice....I'll be moving to the Midwest, Minnesota to be exact. Thanks for the info and a bottle of Jack will not be a problem.

Rush Duluth or Sioux Falls then.

Don't forget about Madison, WI. I'm a bit biased since I'm a UW grad, but if you put Madison next to Duluth and Sioux Falls, there is no comparison in terms of QOL.

I believe Ft. Wayne, IN is plus'ing up their F-16's as well. Not quite close to Minn, but certainly midwest...you may want to check with them as well.

I have to go with Slice on this one. Sioux Falls and Duluth are the easiest to do from MN and both are good units. My gut tells me Sioux Falls has a more stable future though. Good Luck!
