CFI/II & MEI credit for Mil IP school grads...

I remember about 6 months ago the FAA proposing that military instructors may get CFI, CFII, and MEI ratings on their license if they had graduated a USAF formal training IP school. Does anyone know about this, if it was approved and what the process would be to get this on your certificate?

Thanks!

BB, I just took my ATP eval, and I asked the FAA check pilot what he knew about the mil comp for CFI etc. First, he was suprised that I had heard about it. He said they're still in the process of evaluating the proposal. For instance, the FAA is polling their community to see if it's a good idea. When they receive the feedback they need, they make a decision. My guy said it was a good idea.

When I took my ATP written, I think Sheppard Air was already advertising for the mil comp written test...hopefully it's only a matter of time!

the new wording for the FAR is in part 61 if I remember right. I found it one day after talking to the FAA examiner I got my Mil comp ratings from.

scroll down to 61.73g for the exact wording, it also has a provision for taking away the currency for getting mil comp ratings if I am reading those parts correct as well, so if you arent single eng current, you can still get your single end land priv on top of the multi

Just curious, but why do you want those ratings. I was a CFI/II/MEI for about two years before entering the AF and I can tell that none of you guys would even consider it for more than just the hobby aspect of it. The pay is heinous.....

Why not if you can get it for free? Most don't need the Beechjet type either but it's still on there.

In my situation, this wouldn't be a bad deal for me, both flight schools near where I live here in pensacola would hire me for approx 30k a year, and because I am little light on total time for the majors, it would certainly pay more, and keep me at home more than a regional.

The regional 121 time would look better on the resume for a mil only guy and pad the TT quicker.

No arguement there, and I am not seriously considering doing CFI work, it was just a possibility I WAS thinking about months ago as a fall back. At this point thought, I AM willing to make less, and be gone more just to get to a major.
