C23 Pilot
I am a rotor wing guy with 1500 hours and going to the fixed wing course in a couple of months. I will then transition into the C-23 with a follow on deployment. What will be my options with 500 ME hours next year as far as a corporate flying job. Anybody know anything about Kalitta charter? They might be coming to Mississippi.. thanks, Nick

500 ME will normally get you some interest, but most folks with 500ME have 1000+ total FW. If you have less than 1000 total FW, most smaller outfits will have insurance issues.
You could get a job a crappy regional, and try to build your turbine FW up. If you are refering to Kalitta the 747 operator, I doubt they hire people with 500 FW hours...I would guess more like 2000 hours FW turbine... comments Ghilis? Few FW operators count helo time, but Skywest does...check out their web site for the exact formula, but I suspect you would qualify w/ 500 FW turbine. |

Supposedly, NETJETS is HELO friendly and they might just give you a look!!!

Thanks for the replies. I dont know if I can take a paycut with the regionals. I heard they start at about 20k. and I would have to take an ems helo job before I could do that. Helo's are about 60k in my area. I have heard that netjets are helo friendly so maybe I will have some luck with them next year. I agree that Kalitta would not hire me know but heard they have a lot of different aircraft including some small jets.. Thanks again

Kalitta and Kalitta Charters are two different companies - at least they have two different web pages at APC. I have a friend in your situation somewhat. A good amount of FW jet time but struggling to make some of the mins required, but has a bunch of helo time. Did you ever find out which airlines were helo friendly? I had heard somewhere that Alaska Airlines was and I see people mentioning NJA on this thread. USMCFLYR |
LOTS of helo guys at Netjets. I don't know how competitive it will make you right now, though.
