MD national guard pilot positions.

MD national guard pilot positions.
Is it easy to be a rotary wing pilot in the national guard? The reason I ask is I ETS'd after 6 years active in the Army. I joined the MD national guard for 2 more years just to make sure I won't get deployed again. I have that 2 years of non-deployment option in my contract. Anyway, the national guard guy called to welcome me to my new unit, and said they have pilot positions available! I told him that I have my fixed wing private pilot's license, and he said it helps. I know active army have some fixed wing aircraft (kingair, learjet), what about national guard units?
Is the national guard flight training the same as active army? I think is active army is 2 years of flight school at Ft. Rucker, AL.

All army flight training, regardless of AD, NG, AR status is exactly the same. You will be on active duty for 12-18 months (estimated) while you complete all required training (Warrant officer candidate school, initial entry rotary wing, advanced aircraft qualification, SERE C, and the warrant officer basic course). Only difference between AD and AR/NG flight training is that there may be a significant delay in your flight training that they would bring you home for and pull you off of active duty, then send you back to school when your next class starts. AD aviators just ride out that time snowbirding.
If you want to fly FW, try the Reserves. 6-52 Aviation or 2-228 Aviation are looking for C-12 drivers. Catch is that you'll have to deploy immediately after training. The reserves own most of the C-12's state side. Most state NG units will have a C-12 for the state VIPs but those, to my knowledge those go out to the aviators that have been in the state flying rotary wing for a while.
I'm an Active Duty FW aviator. Feel free to PM me if you have any questions.
Oh, we've got KingAir's, Beech 1900's, Cessna Citation Ultras, Shorts 360's, Fairchild Metro III's, Gulfstream III, IV, V, 550's, F-27's, Twin Otters, and soon the C-27J (unless the Air Force insists on wasting $17M tax payer dollars and changes it to the C-27B).
