It would seem to me, and I'm not throwing spears here, that the senior AF leadership ought not to be worried about flight suits and ascots but more importantly how best to control our nation's nuclear assets for starters. Unreal!! But hey at least the USAF can wear their flight suits off base, which is more than I can say for us USN/USMC folks.

What we really need is for Secretary Gates to do a clean sweep of all of the polyester princes running the show right now. These tools who've gone to all of the correct schools in residence, but only did brief touch and go's in operational squadrons so they could check that box too. If you're an O-6 or above in the AF today, you are most probably a tool, and everyone around you likely thinks you're a tool. No doubt about it, you've spent 18 years or so on your knees servicing the bosses above you, while selling out the guys below you, and having no F'ing clue what the REAL mission is. I'm at that point in my career where I'm only in it for mercenary reasons anymore. 2 more years until I can get a retirement and go back to my airline gig where management, for all their faults, at least don't try to pretend to give a crap about me or the country or any other esoteric garbage. Now don't get me wrong, I still love my country and love the guys I fly with, but I have an utter disdain, nay, DISGUST for the people running the show...."and every man of sense and character should detest and despise them".

REMF University (the OIF bases) is spreading to non-OIF locations. This is not good. I know policies are slowly being implemented AF-wide mimicking the gayness of sandbox stupidity. Some places are required to wear their PT gear to use the base gym. Some places are required to tuck in their PT shirts when exercising. A previous WG/CC at my previous base required everyone to wear a scarf. Nobody should have to wear those things. On a side note, this week I was told by an 0-6, "powerpoint slides are a direct representation of the project being briefed". I think that somehow relates to the same concept of "appearance" vs. actually being able to do your job.

REMF = rear echelon Mother F = shoeclercks = somebody so far removed from the actual mission they have no concept of what’s important and impede actual work by enforcing useless queep.

"Of special emphasis, I have asked each of your commanders to ensure that all those who will be interacting with Maj Gen Scott next week to have a scarf."

Just so you know, this isn't anything new. We've been going through this crap since they created shinola. At least you don't have to wear the "dickies" they used to wear in the late 70's.

I think 1Seat longs for the days when he wore a dickie.

Sounds like the old sock check days... If Morale Patches are prohibited, how about "Beatings Patches" as in "The beatings will continue until Morale Improves."

They can't keep track of nuclear weapons and components, but they are hell-bent on SCARF accountability???

Not to completely single out the AF, the navy seems determined to fire every other CO from my year group. It can't be all my years group's fault...leadership is either using people as sacrificial goats to CYA, or their career development/command screening programs are broken.

What the hell is the matter with our top leadership??? Even OIF I - XXXVIII isn't enough to account for how off-course we seem to be.

Classic, looks like I made it out just in time. I for one am disgusted. Of course, we are at war, and of course, we need scarves. This should be our top priority.

Laugh it up, test-boy. I probably have pictures of you wearing a scarf and huge aviator sunglasses back when you were young.

Like I remember a guy once saying,"My squadron commander offered me this cool deal: he wouldn't ground me if all I did was wear this scarf. Seemed fair to me."

You know, I don't think our wing even has scarves. I need to go thank my Wing CC immediately.

Where is this anyway? I had Scott as a Wing/CC way back when, don't remember much, can't recollect him going on a mission about scarves. Someone should forward the email to him.
