Army Guard Pilots

I am 28 years old, half way through a degree with Embry Riddle with a 3.85 GPA and currently flying for a Regional. I have 3000 hours of total time with 2000 being fixed wing turbine time.

I have always had this thing inside me that wanted to join the military. I got my ratings the civilian route because I didn't have the degree required by most branches to fly. I was told that the Army is taking people in my position into the WOFT program and I have some questions if anyone wouldn't mind.

What is the outlook for pilots in the Army Guard?

Does the Army hire into Guard units, or do you have to go Active duty?

Does the Guard put a slot in writing before enlistment?

Anyone from an airline joined the Guard that would care to share their experience?

What is the length of Obligation for Army Aviation/Guard?

Thanks

You technically can't join the guard directly to go to flight school, but there is a way to temporarily enlist first into a generic MOS to get around that.

6 years.
