Thanks for the follow up dtfl. I was wondering there for a minute after reading Fatboy's post. I'll still prep for the worst but hope for the best.

Does anyone have any specific info on the 68 AS boys down in SA?

The single biggest thing you can do is get in touch with someone in the unit and find out what they like to drink. If you can't find that out show up with a Handle of Jack (or two) or a teenage single malt scotch and leave it with the interview board or publicly donate it to the squadron prior to your interview.

Depending on the makeup of the unit, sometimes porn is appropriate...Make sure you know your audience first.

Also, remember that you love to work on drill weekend, and you can't wait to deploy.

All true, but in todays PC-BS AF I'd watch the above until you KNEW it was cool to produce such "thank-you goodies"

I'd donate it to the Sq bar personally. Doesn't look like a bribe and EVERYONE would like you at that point. Find out what the Es like too....case of Miller High Life? Big Bottle of Gentleman Jack? That would work in my Sq.

PS FlyBoyTex - what is your AFSC?

Q11M3M. I'm a Tanker Toad by trade, but currently fly Lears around Europe.

As for the bribes, good info, but I definetely need to figure out more about the audience like dtfl said.

Thanks guys for all the info.

I couldn't tell you anything about the current manning situation at the 68th. The 68th had to downsize considerably when the 433d gained the 356th (the FTU).

They have been holding UPT boards though. They picked up 2 guys in October and have one finishing up the pipeline soon. I highly doubt you care, but that's what I know.

You can reach the 68th scheduling desk or CP within about 3 calls from the Lackland base number, if you don't have any buds in the unit. Good luck.

The 68th being a schoolhouse - does that mean the don't hire off the street or from other airframes? Do they have a need for guys that are not already C-5 guys or not C-5 instructors being they are a school house?

UPTme 01-05-2009 10:08 AM

The 68th is not the schoolhouse, the 356th is. Both are in the 433d Wing.

I thought I covered the UPT hiring in my previous post. Let me know if it was unclear.
